St Paul's Golden Jubilee - 28th June 2009
THE GREAT JUBILEE: we completed the celebrations for our 50th Anniversary on the Feast Day of our Parish, SS Peter & Paul. After the wonderfully joyous Mass, with Fr Peter Cullen eloquently lauding St Paul and inspiring our community; the gift of a beautiful new icon of our patron saint (after a 13th century original in the Monastery of Mt Sinai); we then held our Agape – in the form of a barbecue and summer Fayre. Thank you, to everyone who came - our parishioners and friends from other parishes in the Deanery; thank you to all who worked so hard for the success of the day, especially the Pastoral Council, and those who contributed with gifts – people too many to mention by name. We know the last 50 years have been truly blessed, and we thank God for it. As we go into the second fifty, we can be justly proud and filled with hope. “As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in compassion, in generosity and humility….Bear with one another, forgive each other. The Lord has forgiven you, now you must do the same. Over all these clothes, put on love…and always be thankful” Col. 3/12
Happy and Holy Day!11 of our young brothers and sisters in Christ receive their First Holy Communion.
The Light of the WorldThank you, to the anonymous donor of a copy of the painting by William Holman Hunt.
