The Light of the World.
Thank you, to the anonymous donor of a copy of the painting by William Holman Hunt, the pre-Raphaelite artist (1827 - 1910). The paintings message is that the Saviour of the world is alive and dwells in the hearts of those who admit him. "Look, I am standing at the door knocking. If one of you hears me calling and opens the door, I will come in to share a meal at that persons side." (Revelation 3/20.) Whilst painting this picture in 1851-2 (the earliest of three he did, now hanging in Keble College, Oxford) Hunt himself had a conversion experience which led him "to present, not the sorrowing Christ, but the Christ of all time - the same yesterday, today and forever". This is Christ, the Light of the world for all ages - a truly Easter theme.
